Hey, all...

Here's the info from last night's GAS meeting.

The date for the spring mini-conference has been set. It will be held on
Friday, March 16th. This is the week after Spring Break and two weeks before
MSS. This would be a great opportunity to "test-drive" presentations prior
to presenting them in St. Louis. We are in the process of getting a speaker,
and more details will of course follow sometime in the future. What we do
not know is whether to schedule the mini-conference for the morning or the
afternoon. If you have a preference, please email Eric Boria
(eboria at luc.edu, I think) or me (tvandeb at luc.edu) letting us know. Also,
please begin to think about possible paper presentations. As I mentioned,
it'll be a good MSS warm-up and could also be useful for those of you in
Judy's ethnography class.

Secondly, GAS is tentatively giving $500 to the ethnography conference which
will be hosted by Loyola this year on February 24th. The $500 is "tentative"
because we are awaiting an updated financial report from the ethnography
conference committee sometime in the next week or so. The amount may be more
or less depending on the need. Since Loyola is hosting the event this year,
it would be great if we could get a good showing of presenters. Paper
abstracts are due to Katie (kcangem at luc.edu) or Elizabeth (edemos at luc.edu)
by February 1st. For more details about the conference, contact Katie,
Elizabeth, or anyone on the ethnography conference committee.

-Travis
